Soybean processing pilot plant
The pilot plant facility is meant for the production of soymilk and paneer. It is equipped with a batch type soymilk plant. In these facilities, demonstrations of the preparation of various other soybean products such as soybean full-fat flour, soy ice cream, and soy biscuits are offered to various training groups. Other soybean processing machinery like vacuum packaging units, hot air dryers, soybean dehuller, heavy duty centrifuge, extrusion expelling unit, enrobing machine etc. are present in the pilot plant.
Biochemistry Laboratory
The laboratory is equipped with facilities for biochemical analysis of food samples, including nutritional and anti-nutritional profiling. For research purposes, the laboratory has equipment such as gas chromatography, UV-VIS spectrophotometer, kjeldhal apparatus, soxhlet apparatus, fiber analysis apparatus, transilluminator, orbital shaker, centrifuges, electrophoresis units, hot air ovens, gel dryer, water bath, etc.
Food engineering laboratory
This laboratory has the facilities for different food engineering operations. Equipment’s such as spray dryer, freeze dryer, membrane separation unit, ball mill, headspace analyzer, ultrasonication probe unit, moisture meter and water bath are available for research work.
