CRP on Energy from Agriculture

Energy needs of agriculture would be able to balance out with energy generation from agriculture. Certain sub-sectors of agriculture, such as dairy farm, are at the level of being energy self-reliant. Similarly, other sub-sectors could be made energy neutral by adopting developed technology into an energy-neutral sector without sacrificing growth.

The consortia research platform on energy in agriculture is mandated to facilitate basic research on biomass based energy generation and conduct the research and demonstration on energy efficiency in agricultural operations with a view to enhance the share of renewable energy use in Indian agriculture and resulting into lower carbon foot print.

1. To develop technological packages for greater energy use efficiency in agriculture.
2. To conduct basic and strategic research for development of process and technology for generation of liquid bio fuel from biomass like algal, crop residues etc and establishing facility for advance bio energy research.
3. To develop, upscale, demonstrate and commercialize renewable energy technologies for production and processing of agro produce livestock and fisheries to reduce dependence on conventional energy.
